The Chorale presents the 21st annual performance of "The Best Way to Celebrate Christmas" (Best of the Springs, The Gazette). Special Guests, the Chorale’s own "MOSAIC," and a Christmas carol composed especially to celebrate Donald P. Jenkins 40th Anniversary as Chorale Conductor and Artistic Director by Alice Parker, renowned in her own right as composer, teacher, and conductor, and a close associate of the choral great, Robert Shaw.
December 8, Saturday, 7 PM and December 9, Sunday, 2:30 PM, FIRST PRESBYTERIAN: CHRISTMAS JOY!, Pikes Peak Center: First Presbyterian Church’s "Christmas Joy!" concert is poised for the 10th year to usher families into the spirit and excitement of the Christmas season December 8 and 9 at the Pikes Peak Center in Colorado Springs.
The full-spectrum musical production will once again feature some of Colorado Springs’ foremost vocal and instrumental talents as well as special guest soloists all bringing an eclectic mix of seasonal music, from the traditional and sacred to big band specials to popular Christmas carols.
"’Christmas Joy!’ performances are designed to capture our hearts with everything from the most tender moments, to exuberant celebration, to the highest crescendos of spiritual expression," said Jim DeJarnette, First Presbyterian Minister of Music.
The concert will feature the 175-voice First Presbyterian Sanctuary Choir, accompanied by a full orchestra and a 17-piece big band. The Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale will perform, as well as the Pikes Peak Ringers handbell ensemble.
December 15, Saturday, 2007, 6:30 PM, BRULE, Pikes Peak Center: This Holiday Concert is a two-hour production that features a unique blend of contemporary Native American music combined with traditional Native American rhythms and dance.
